As if it isn't hard enough to find suitable carry methods designed for women, I'm going to throw another request into the pot: how about designing something to suit the BBW members of the gender? I find waist carry - even with a holster designed for women - very uncomfortable even when I wear something between me and the gun. It feels like I run a very real risk of having a hole rubbed through my skin by the butt of the gun. Purse carry is possible but not exactly satisfactory, and other methods I've tried all have some sort of drawback. Maybe a shoulder harness that is designed for someone with *ahem* a more developed chest than the average man? And one that doesn't require a heavy jacket over top when it's very warm weather? Just some wishful thinking... Smile

No kidding..we should start our own company, Pat.

Right now, I appendix carry in a Comp-tac Infidel holster that I removed the site clips from..it works well enough because my boobs are bigger than my stomach but there are the same issues as ever:

-My body is too short..most holsters cut into my leg/groin area when I'm seated. This one doesn't but its a common problem with holsters.
-When I used a holster with side straps, they reach from one side of me to the other.
-Holsters don't fit close to my body and the gun angles out.
-I'm not as hippy as a lot of people, but its a for concealing, strong side is a problem..the holsters don't fit the horizonal curve of our hips, leaving the gun sticking out several inches from our body.
-For flatter holsters like Raven, the problem is the width. Its like strapping a piece of stiff cardboard to my body..its workable, but I need to have one custom curved a bit. Raven has said they can do this..I just need to get a chance to get in a place with their gear.

Pat, I wonder if one of their holsters might work for you. What are you carrying these days?

Mmmm - that's not something I care to discuss in an open forum, but let's just say I'm not happy with it. Whatever method I use needs to handle a sizable gun - I don't carry a .38 revolver, it's much heftier so requires more stability and strength in the holster. I have in the past used a righthanded holster in small-of-back location (I'm lefthanded) but that results in crossing my own body with the muzzle on draw, which is why I don't do that any more. There has to be SOME way to come up with something better that doesn't require massive changes in both wardrobe and posture to manage.

Have you tried belly bands or appendix carry?

Between all the models I've carried, (3914, M&P FS, G26, Para PDA, .38 snub) the holster I've been most at ease with is the Crossbreed. The leather is flexible enough to mold to my "spot" and angle just so. (The butt does print though.) Not pretty, and requires a darn good belt (scissors for draw grip), but short of OWB, the most comfortable way I've found.

All that said, lusting after an M&P compact.

Yes, I've tried belly bands - they tend to shift and lose their ability to stay firm with heavier guns. Not to mention will imprint under a light shirt or blouse. Haven't tried the other, I don't think...

Try out a Crossbreed, I am no female but even Barb tried out my Crossbreed Supertuck on Saturday and I think she thought it was quite comfortable.

Yeah, I liked it quite a bit.

I think most everyone was surpised in class that I was carrying a standard capacity firearm under a thin fleece. That was in my Comp-Tac holster, but I was also able to conceal a 1911 in Erics Crossbreed.

Just as a heads up on the things we've seen in classes on the CB supertucks.

Over time the leather can stretch. This can cause the kydex to stretch with it losing the retention on the pistol.

Also the leather backing can impede a proper grip during the draw stroke. many students that run them have cut a little of the leather off to fix this. Dont be afraid to "customize" your gear to work for you.

The supertuck is a decent holster, just a few things to be mindful of.

Keith, you could also have CrossBreed do what they call a combat cut to take away some of the leather uptop. As for the leather stretching I would assume this would be covered under the lifetime warranty. i definatly appriciate hearing about this as it is the first time i have!
